Binding options explained

Perfect binding: a glued spine for paperbacks, catalogues and reports. Clean and economical.

PUR binding: a stronger, more flexible adhesive. Pages open flatter and hold up to heavy use and coated stocks.

Section-sewn binding: signatures sewn together before binding. The book lies flat and lasts, which suits art books, monographs and exhibition catalogues. It can also be left as an exposed spine.

Case binding: a hardcover over a sewn or PUR-bound text block, finished with printed or cloth covers, foil, debossing or a dust jacket.
Digital and offset book printing
We print books on our HP Indigo 7800 digital press and on Heidelberg offset presses. The right process depends on your run length, colours, stock and finish, and we'll recommend the best fit for each title. On offset, Heidelberg Image Control keeps colour consistent from the first sheet to the last.
Printing for galleries, publishers and authors
Books are where our craft is tested most. Art reproductions demand accurate colour, and coffee table editions need stocks and bindings that feel right in the hand. Our book work has contributed to 40 National Print Awards golds. You're welcome to attend a press check on your job.

How long does book printing take?
Most jobs are ready within 1 to 14 days. Books with specialist binding or finishes can take longer, so let us know your deadline early.
What's the smallest run you can print?
One copy. Digital printing makes single copies and very short runs practical.
Can I see a printed proof before the full run?
Yes. We can supply a hard-copy proof on your chosen stock, bound as it will be in the finished book.
Can you print on FSC® certified paper?
Yes. FSC® certified stocks are available on any job.
